On December 15th – 19th, 2003, The Presidential Human Rights Commission in the Russian Federation, the Moscow School of Human Rights, the Federation of Peace and Consent supported by the Moscow Department of Education and the Moscow House of Nationalities are going to hold in Moscow the annual

13th International Session
Human Rights, Culture of Peace, Tolerance –
Content and Methods of Education

(training for secondary schools teachers, higher schools professors, instructors on social sciences, lecturers, managers of educational institutions, social workers, NGOs representatives to prepare them to human rights, civic, democracy and peace education)

The session is carried out in the frameworks of the Plan of Action for United Nations Decade for Human Rights Education, United Nations Program of Action on a Culture of Peace, and UNESCO and Council of Europe recommendations on human rights education.

Famous specialists in the sphere of human rights, law, political science, pedagogy, etc., representing Russian and international organizations, take part in the Session.

The following problems will be discussed:

In addition to the plenary meetings, the following sections will be organized:

  1. Higher Education
  2. General Education (schools; higher and advanced training pedagogical institutions)
  3. Informal Education, Human Rights Organizations

The participants of the Session will visit educational institutions of Moscow, governmental institutions and human rights NGOs to get acquainted with their work in these fields.

You could find the programs of several previous sessions below. The forthcoming 13th Session will be built on the same model.

The working language of the Session is Russian. During the Session and at your free time (by escort) we will provide translation to English.

Training and literature stuff are free of charge for the participants. The registration fee for Russian participants is $13, for the other ex-Soviet countries is $4, for all the other countries is $50. Unfortunately we are not able to pay for your trip and stay in Russia. Your participation in the Session will be a great helping for us.

We invite your organisation, you in person and your colleagues to take part in the Session. You may propose the theme of your report.

The beginning of the Session is on December 15, 10.00 a.m. (registration is at 9.00 a.m.).

The applications were admitted till December 1, 2003.

The opening of the Session will take place on Monday, December 15, 2003, at 10.00am at the address: Federation for Peace and Conciliation, Prospekt Mira 36, Moscow (registration will start at 9.00am). The nearest metro station is Prospekt Mira at the Ring Line (marked by brown at the metro maps), then on exit turn to the left and go around 50 meters.
